KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Exciting opportunity for a qualified junior level health and safety professional to join T Vaughan Ltd. The company is growing exponentially, and this has led to this position becoming available. The role will be very hands on, with a good mixture of site and office work and will require a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to maintain a positive safety culture within an organisation.

Key Duties & Full Role Description:

· To assist the Directors in all matters relating to health, safety, quality, and environmental management as an organisation.

· Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments, method statements, COSHH, MSDS, Manual Handling assessments, DSE assessments, Toolbox talks, creating new templates and other safety related documentation.

· Assistance with lifting plans, waste management plans, traffic management and site specific plans and procedures as required.

· Assisting the organisation in compliance with relevant industry Legislation including; LOLER, PUWER, CDM, HASAWA etc.

· Overall management of HSQE departmental administration; printing of new site health and safety folder packs ready for mobilisation.

· Sending out of company wide safety alerts and toolbox talks as relevant to new industry standards, changing in seasons/weather and recording signed returns register.

· To assist with the creation of, and annual review of organisational policies and procedures.

· To assist with and be the ‘responsible person’ for the organisation, for purposes of the reporting of HSQE matters and providing competent advice.

· To act as the ‘Responsible Person’ for Purfleet HQ site compliance issues e.g. fire safety, carrying out fire drills, additional nominated first aider etc.

· Maintaining Purfleet HQ site compliance, carrying out regular site walks, reviewing risk assessments and enforcing site rules and control measures at all times.

· Ensure that safety inspections and audits are carried out at regular intervals on all active TVL sites, and that all findings are communicated to relevant Contracts Manager and Directors.

· Carrying out on-site toolbox talks and briefings.

· Management of organisational training and competency matrix spreadsheet. Adding new starter information and cross-checking validity of details, right to work and qualifications etc.

· Keep up to date with changes in current Legislation and suggest such changes where discovered and as relevant.

· Supporting the organisation establish a management system working towards ISO accreditation.

· Assistance with the annual renewals of organisational SSIP’s including CHAS and SMAS.

· Completion of Principal Contractor issued PQQ information regarding H&S performance as required.

· Carrying out incident investigations, RIDDOR and near miss reporting as may be necessary. Conducting witness / injured party interviews and compiling evidence for incident investigation reports.

· Conducting research into industry best practice approaches to help the organisation improve safety performance and efficiency.

· Conducting HAVS assessments and maintaining an up to date register.

· Assistance with sub-contractor and supply chain management; reviewing of returned supplier PQQ’s and evidence for TVL approval process and live register.

· Any other ad hoc health and safety, environmental and quality duties as required

Person Specification:

· Previous experience in health and safety related role preferred.

· NEBOSH/NCRQ Certificate/Diploma or similar qualification in health and safety required as a minimum.

· Professional membership status with IOSH preferable (TechIOSH) etc.

· Experience in the built environment, construction, civils or plant is advantageous.

· Understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 frameworks of standards is an advantage.

· Good Microsoft software experience; Excel etc.

· Understanding of temporary works is advantageous.

· Must have valid driving licence and your own vehicle (travel to sites circa 2-3 days per week)

Willingness to learn, take initiative and get hands on from day one.

Job description:

The Estimating Manager will be responsible for overseeing the tendering procedure within the company. The successful candidate with take control of all aspects of the estimating department to lead the estimating team from receiving the tender right through to submission, chasing the submission, meeting the clients to further negotiate and secure the contract.

It will also be necessary to assess tenders which were not successful.

Skills and Experience

A degree in Quantity Surveying is a requirement.

Minimum of 10 years experience in the construction industry – Groundworks and RC frame would be essential.

Good understanding of construction methods, specifications and the ability to read, understand and measure drawings.

Display high capability of extracting quantities from drawings and ensure that accurate pricing is delivered within specified time frames.

Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Google Docs, etc.

A strong command of the English languge and good written and oral communication skills.

Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at once.

Self-starter and ability to organise the workday around assigned activities and priorities.

Ability to work successfully as part of a team.

Job description:

The Estimator will be responsible for producing detailed and competitive tenders within the allocated deadline. Other responsibilities include the measurement of tender drawings, reviewing specifications and issuing RFIs. Ideally the estimator will have a proven track record in all estimating functions, in addition to a strong commercial awareness and the ability to deal with tenders from start to finish.

Duties and Responsibilities

Preparation and negotiation of tenders submission;

Measuring and Quantity Take-Off from drawings;

Producing Bills of Quantities;

Sourcing pre-project information;

Visit site and record information about access, drainage and topography, and availability of services such as water and electricity;

Analysing sub-contractor quotations and checking inclusions and exclusions;

Produce Tender report;

Ensure tender is delivered to the appropriate place on time;

Attend pre and post tender interviews, client meetings;

Liaising and reporting to the Estimating Manager, Contracts Manager & Director in relation to on-going projects submissions;

Attend regular pipeline meetings to review current tender submission requirements and communicate effectively to keep Estimating Manager up-to-date on project submission status whilst also tracking and resolving issues;

Keeps abreast of various changes in industry and competitive environment in which the company operates;

Maintain good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations;

Perform Other Duties and Projects as assigned.
